Accessibility statement

What we target, what we have tested, and what is not there yet.

Last updated 1 July 2026

Our target

We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA across the whole site. Children’s pages additionally use much larger touch targets — around 2cm square — because pre-school motor control needs roughly four times an adult target.

What is in place

  • Semantic headings and landmarks throughout, with a skip link on every page
  • Visible keyboard focus on every interactive element
  • Full keyboard operation, including the menu, search, bag and article contents
  • Support for prefers-reduced-motion, plus a manual pause control for decorative animation
  • Alt text on meaningful images, and empty alt on decorative ones
  • Status and error messages announced to screen readers
  • Information never conveyed by colour alone — icons and text always accompany it
  • Captions and full transcripts on episodes

Known gaps — honestly

We have not yet completed a full manual screen-reader audit with NVDA, JAWS and VoiceOver. We have not yet had the site reviewed by disabled users, which is the only test that really counts.

Caption files for the episodes are referenced but not yet produced, because the episodes themselves are not yet published.

If you hit a barrier, please tell us. We will fix it and we will tell you when it is fixed.

Questions about any of this?

Write to us and a person will read it. We would rather explain something twice than have you uncertain.
