Our safety promise in full

Everything we do, everything we refuse to do, and the reasoning behind both.

The design decisions

Child safety on the internet is mostly an architecture problem rather than a moderation problem. If a child cannot type, cannot be messaged and holds no account, then whole categories of risk simply do not exist — there is nothing to moderate.

So that is how this is built. The children’s side of the site collects nothing at all. Everything that touches data lives behind a grown-ups’ section.

The rules we follow

  • COPPA (United States), including the amended rule in force since 2025
  • The Children’s Code / Age Appropriate Design Code (United Kingdom)
  • GDPR and UK GDPR, including the rules on children’s consent
  • Australian Privacy Principles
  • Apple’s App Store Kids Category rules, which the future app will need

No dark patterns

No countdown timers aimed at children. No streaks. No "your friends are watching". No pressure to come back tomorrow. No upselling inside a story. No confusing opt-outs, and no pre-ticked consent boxes.

What has not happened yet

Being straight with you: our policies have been drafted carefully but have not yet been reviewed by a qualified privacy lawyer, and we have not yet had an independent security audit. Both are scheduled before we accept real payments or launch the app.

Questions about any of this?

Write to us and a person will read it. We would rather explain something twice than have you uncertain.
