About this one

A canvas satchel containing a working compass, a magnifying glass, a bug-viewing pot with air holes, twenty illustrated adventure cards and a wipe-clean field notebook with a pencil that is attached, because pencils otherwise cease to exist.

The cards are the good bit: each one sets a small mission β€” find something rougher than your jumper, follow a bird for one minute, draw the shape of a puddle β€” that turns a back garden into somewhere worth exploring.

Materials

Cotton canvas satchel. Recycled card. Beech-handled magnifier with acrylic lens.

The cards are the best bit

I expected the compass to be the draw but it is the mission cards. "Find something rougher than your jumper" occupied both of mine for an entire Sunday afternoon in a very small garden.
